River Advice is the leading, globally operating competence platform for passenger ships in inland shipping. Under the umbrella of UNITED WATERWAYS, the group of companies with over 4,000 committed employees represents a fleet of over 100 passenger and event ships on Europe's inland waterways. The wide range of services offered supports our customers in all areas of inland passenger shipping: shipping company management, crew management, nautical/technical management, hospitality & catering services, safety & security, ship financing, charter brokerage, insurance management as well as new construction & conversion support and ship ICT Services.

To develop and expand its business further, River Advice AG is looking for a

**Commercial Director (M/F / d)**

**The diverse and interesting range of responsibilities includes**:

- Developing, planning and implementing strategies that align with business goals in order to maximize business growth based on business targets to support and promote business growth of River Advice AG
- Conducting market research and analysis to inform business plans on commercial opportunities and understand future threats
- Working with the marketing director to plan and execute marketing campaigns to generate new revenue streams and promote business growth
- Evaluating the performance of commercial activities through data analysis
- Financial management - setting financial targets and ensuring business operations remain within budgets
- Working collaboratively across the business with management teams to achieve business goals
- Building and maintaining partnerships with key stakeholders
- Understanding the requirements of existing customers to ensure their needs are being met
- Acting to acquire new customers and manage client relationships (new and existing)
- Collaborating with departments across the company (marketing, sales, finance)
- A business qualification - BSc/BA/ MSc/MA in business administration, finance or a relevant field
- At least 15 years of professional experience as Commercial Director, Marketing Director, Chief Executive Officer or similar position
- At least 15 years of professional experience in the shipping/nautical industry
- Experience in managing companies registered in Switzerland which are active in the shipping/nautical industry
- Detailed knowledge regarding the design of passenger areas of river cruise ships (practical experience in managing the construction would be a great advantage)
- At least 15 years of professional experience in a leadership role of an internationally active company
- Knowledge of the cruise tourism product and experience in organizing cruise travel for at least 15 years
- Proven professional experience of at least fifteen (15) years in developing and implementing successful business growth strategies that align with the corporate aims of the business
- A blend of commercial awareness, analytical and creative thinking, partnered with a strategic mindset
- In-depth understanding of the specific (shipping/nautical) sector, market research methods and analysis
- Experience of participating in international tourist and professional maritime and shipbuilding exhibitions as an exhibitor
- A deep understanding of business operations, finances, sales and marketing tactics and market conditions
- At least five (5) years of experience in promoting and selling cruise travel as well as in working with premium cruise operators in the countries of Southeast Asia, USA and Australia
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to be able to work collaboratively with key shareholders, both within the business and externally
- Proven knowledge of performance reporting and financial/budgeting processes
- Strong attention to detail, time management, organisational and leadership ability to guide the business to achieve business goals
- Fluent English skills

The workplace is Basel. Worldwide business trips are necessary as part of the function on the regular basis.
