- scientific academic degree (completed at the date of employment; Master's degree or equivalent) in statistics, data science or mathematics
- advanced knowledge in statistics, in particular maximum likelihood theory and regression modelling
- advanced skills in the statistical programming language R
- fluent English language skills (oral and written)
- ability to work in teams and cooperate with others
- willingness to pursue a doctoral degree in the context of the Bielefeld Graduate School of Economics and Management (BiGSEM; enrollment in the doctoral study programme with the profile "Data Science" is required for this position)
- interest in pursuing an academic career
- Preferred experience and skills
- knowledge in flexible regression modelling (GLMs, GAMs), Markov chains, time series analysis and model selection
- experience in the analysis of real data, in particular time series data
