- The Biomolecular Photonics research group of Prof. Dr. Thomas Huser develops novel high-resolution optical microscopy techniques to examine biological and biomedical samples. Both, fluorescence-based and marker-free, chemically sensitive methods (e.g. Raman scattering) are being developed. The research group continuously improves these optical methods and also develops complete system solutions from optomechanics, optoelectronics, laser sources, control based on microcontrollers based on microcontrollers, through to the programming of software for data acquisition and data evaluation. Current third-party funded projects include the development of new methods for high-resolution fluorescence microscopy of living cells to study the membrane dynamics of liver endothelial cells, the development of novel 3D imaging methods with contrast in the short-wave infrared spectral range to support mínimally invasive surgery, and the development of fast methods to compensate for motion artifacts using adaptive optics.- Your Tasks

- Your Profile
We expect
- completed scientific studies (e.g. Master or Diploma) in the field of physics or engineering sciences
- experience in the development and operation of super-resolution optical fluorescence microscopes, in particular based on single molecule localization and/or structured illumination
- experience in programming microcontrollers or FPGAs and graphical user interfaces
- experience in the design, control, optimization and operation of optomechanical and electro-optical systems, such as lasers, light-emitting diodes, modulators, micrometer translation stages, scientific cameras, galvanometer mirrors, etc.
- very good knowledge of written and spoken English
- ability to cooperate and to work in a team
- presentation skills
Preferred experience and skills
- general knowledge in the fields of optics, spectroscopy, lasers and electronics
- experience with programming languages, e. g. MATLAB, LabVIEW, Python or C++
- basic knowledge of programming automated measurement methods and evaluation procedures
- basic knowledge of laser physics
