To strengthen our team in the division “Acoustic and Electromagnetic Methods” in Berlin-Steglitz, starting as soon as possible, we are looking for a Research assistant (M/F/d) in the field of physics, physical engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering or comparable, Salary group E13 TVöD, Temporary contract until 30.06.2025 under the reserve that funds are granted Full-time / suitable as part-time employment.

**Ihr Aufgabengebiet**:
**Your responsibilities include**:

- FEM-simulations of eddy current testing for additive manufacturing (temperature influences, process-related changes of electromagnetic properties)Experimental investigations regarding the electromagnetic properties additively manufactured parts as well as comparison with simulation
- Construction of array probes for eddy current testing
- Adaptation of existing electronics for operation of array probes incl. hardware-based signal processing and interface
- Collaboration in the design of the mechanical components for mounting and alignment of the array probes in the AM system with optimal distance to the test surface
- Integration of the test technology into the AM system
- Further development of hardware and software for parameterization of the test technology, transmission of the test data to a PC, as well as for display and storage of the data
- Further development of software algorithms for the evaluation of the test data
- Preparation of refereed publications and active participation in conferences

**Ihr Profil**:
**Your qualifications**:

- Completed scientific university studies (master) in the field of physics, physical engineering, technical computer science, electrical engineering or comparable
- Very good knowledge and experience with FEM simulations (execution and evaluation)
- Knowledge and practical experience in the field of analog and digital circuitry and digital signal processing
- Practical experience in creating multilayer board layouts
- Good programming skills (e.g. Python, C, LabVIEW)
- Knowledge of the use of FPGAs is an advantage
- Knowledge of electromagnetic non-destructive testing (NDT) is an advantage
- Knowledge of additive manufacturing, especially the L-PBF process, is an advantage
- Either a good knowledge of German (at least B1) or a high willingness to acquire the German language quickly
- Very good oral and written communication and information skills in English
- Good communication and information skills, goal-oriented and structured way of working, initiative/commitment and ability to make decisions, as well as team spirit and willingness to cooperate
