- Student Research Assistant

The Center for Adaptive Rationality directed by Ralph Hertwig at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development (Berlin) is seeking applicants for a position as Student Research Assistant
to assist the ongoing research in all phases of the scientific process. Research assistants are usually employed on a basis of 41-80h a month. The position lasts for 6 months minimum and can be prolonged given mutual interest. The anticipated start date is March 1st 2023 or later. The remuneration without a Bachelor's degree is 12,00€/h, and while in the Master's program 13,95€/h.

**Aufgabenbeschreibung**:

- The Center for Adaptive Rationality is investigating various aspects of judgment and decision-making. We offer you the chance to participate in an international and interdisciplinary research team. Research assistants will be involved in research using behavioral and computational methods to study the dynamics of individual problem solving, especially as it relates to intuitive physics and identifying strategies in physical reasoning problems.

**Erwartete Qualifikationen**:

- Requirements
- Enrolled in a Master’s program at a German university (cognitive science, psychology, computer science or a related field).
- Fluent in English (intermediate to advanced). German is a plus.
- High degree of flexibility to accommodate time spent in lab.
- High degree of commitment and can demonstrate high achievement in previous work (e.g., able to meet deadlines and strong attention to detail).
- Interest in participating in research on human reasoning, decision making, and interdisciplinary research with connections to robotics.

Desired qualifications (not all are necessary to apply)
- Experience in programming (at least in R or Python).
- Experience running human psychological experiments, such as coordinating with participants, giving instructions, and setting up lab equipment (e.g., eye-tracking devices).
- Have taken courses which focus on machine learning or algorithms and data structures.
- Experience with: Linux, git, data processing, and various data formats (e.g. lists,.csv, or.JSONs)
