Desitin is one of Germany's few medium-sized privately owned pharmaceutical companies. It is headquartered in Hamburg, where it produces and sells medication primarily destined for the European market. Desitin has significant expertise in medication for treating epilepsy and Parkinson's disease and offers nearly all of the antiseizure drugs listed in the WHO Model List of Essential Medicines. In Germany, over 150,000 epilepsy patients are being treated with drugs provided by Desitin - which is more than the drugs provided by any other pharmaceutical company. Desitin also develops medication for rare diseases and supplements its portfolio with proven over-the-counter drugs sold by pharmacies.
