The Junior Scientist Cell Line Development (m/f/d) for Cytiva is responsible for the conceptualization, planning, execution and troubleshooting of experiments, projects and documentation of results.
This position is part of the Cell Line Development Team located in Cologne.

What you will do:
Design, plan and perform cell culture experiments with a focus on cell line development (mainly suspension cultures).
Self-organized planning and execution of experiments and analytics, including but not limited to cell counting and passaging, transfection, stable pool generation, single cell cloning, and cell-based assays.
Maintain robust documentation of the laboratory work, follow and ensure quality control guidelines among the team. Provide technical and scientific support to junior team members and other departments
Computer-based data analysis, interpretation as well as presentation of results.
Responsible for the establishment of methods in the respective working field and in writing of work instructions and SOPs.
Conduct literature reviews and proactively apply ideas to design projects and improve current methods. Contribute to writing of scientific reports.
Participate in laboratory maintenance tasks, inventory and resource management.
Who you are:
M.Sc. degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or virology or the equivalent work experience that provides knowledge to fundamental theories and concepts in Cell and Molecular Biology
High proficiency in cell and molecular biological methods (mammalian cell cultivation, transient and stable transfection, gene-editing, qPCR / ddPCR, protein biochemistry, ELISA and Western blot, cell-based assays) as well as good computer skills (especially MS Office).
Well trained in conducting literature search and interpretation of scientific publications
Independent working with cross-departmental collaboration skills
Proficient English language oral and written skills, German would be a plus.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Multiple years of industry experience, particularly in the field of gene therapy or mAb development, is a strong plus.
Production and analysis of viral vectors (focus on rAAV) as well as development of genetically modified cell lines.
Cultivation and processing of mammalian suspension cell lines, preferably in an industrial setting.
