Senior Principal Functional Safety Expert

Are you a Functional Safety Expert who is ready to take on a new challenge in your career? This opportunity has global scope where your deliverables can make a real impact on Functional Safety within NXP’s R&D organization and Diverse Product Lines and our overall success. Your Role: As a recognized functional safety technical expert within our Advanced Analog Functional Safety team, you perform the guidance of the safety related products with the development project teams in terms of safety management, review and confirmation of technical safety concepts and safety analysis. You drive improvement activities with respect to Functional Safety and support standardization in NXP. You are also involved in tool analysis with their deployment for safety activities. You have a daily international exposure with the teams all over the world. Your responsibilities: Enhance the Safety Culture within the company, evangelize the Functional Safety approach across organizational boundaries and with management, drive improvement activities Guide the project safety managers and architects for the hardware safety related products (IC) development compliant to ISO26262 and/or IEC61508 Review and confirm the technical safety concepts and IC architectures are sufficient for targeted ASIL /SIL, including all the Safety analysis (FTA, FMEA, DFA, FMEDA) Contribute to the pre- safety assessment of the hardware products in order to reduce the number of findings when they are presented to the Safety assessors Support External Safety audits and assessments when required on released products Travel domestically and internationally as required, 3 or 4 times a year Your Profile: Bachelor or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering 5+ years’ experience of developing Hardware / Semiconductor products (SoCs or ICs) for Automotive (in one of either architecting, designing, simulation, validation) Minimum of 3 years’ experience of managing Functional Safety and/or architecting, verifying Safety concepts for hardware IC development, with intimate knowledge of ISO26262 (or/and other safety standard like IEC61508) You are comfortable working with implementing complex Functional Safety products in an effective manner You are recognized as a technical leader with a capacity of influencing and convincing technical and business stakeholders to get their buy-in, including internal engineering teams and customers Excellent verbal and written communication skills spanning technical contributors, business stakeholders, customers, and executive management You are motivated by taking ownership, driving for your results and continuously learning and developing your career
