We are looking for an experienced and energetic Engineering Manager with a strong background in Java development to join our Product & Engineering team in Berlin. Description

  • Lead a cross-functional Squad of Java and JavaScript Engineers, helping them to become self-organised, agile and autonomous
  • Be responsible for the people within the Squad as well as for the delivery
  • Contribute to the success of your Squad with hands-on coding in Java and Spring Boot
  • Define objectives, track the progress and support every Engineer in achieving them
  • Coach and mentor the Engineers by providing regular feedback
  • Establish a vital Engineering culture
  • Team-up with other Engineering Managers and the Senior Product Leadership
  • Work closely with the CTO and the Founders of the company

Requirements

  • A Software Engineering professional with at least 2 years of experience in a relevant Leadership role (such as Engineering Manager or VP Engineering with People responsibility)
  • Responsibility for the people in your team as well as a bias towards contributing hands-on by writing code
  • A proven track record in building best-in-class software systems
  • Expert in Java and related technologies, such as Spring Boot, relational databases and Kafka
  • Solid understanding of JavaScript (knowledge in frameworks such as React.js or Angular is a plus)
  • An emphatic and inspirational Leader
  • Strong interpersonal skills combined with the ability to work in a structured way
  • An effective problem solver with a strong Business sense
  • Eager to work in a fast-paced, fault-tolerant, agile environment with cross-functional teams
  • Fluent in English
