For the German branch in the Düsseldorf-Dortmund region of an international group of companies we are looking for a dynamic PLANT/GENERAL MANAGER with strong organisational and people skills.
The company is active in the production of cardboard packaging and realizes € 20 million turover with 100 employees.
Work content and main tasks
• The Plant/General Manager will manage the whole organisation and the further commercial development, with the right attention for the sales approach and processes. He/she will be in charge of the daily management of the various departments (operations, development, sales, HR, IT), resulting in full responsibility of the local P&L.
• He/she will be the main point of contact with regard to and will report to the international corporate management at group level.
• Together with the local management team, he/she will be the most important contact person and decision maker with regard to all local stakeholders (customers, suppliers, etc.)
• An important focus will be on the one hand on Operational Excellence, improvement and strengthening of the internal structures and systems, on increasing the efficiency of the flows and processes and, of course, on safety, service and quality; on the other hand, the sales approach and processes also require a lot of attention;
• He/she creates an atmosphere of cooperation and communication between all departments.
Candidates have to be experienced managers who already have successfully supervised and managed similar processes and who can quickly and efficiently:
- Examine and analyze a production organization, with its flows, processes and human performance, in all facets;
- Motivate and inspire teams and make them work together with the right actions and decisions;
- Translate insights and conclusions into realistic action and improvement plans with concrete roadmaps and thus realize an effective turnaround;
- Evaluate the operation of sales, production, supply chain and ERP and implement the necessary improvements.
Profile characteristics/ Experience and education
• Minimum technical or economic bachelor's degree, preferably master's degree.
• A proven track record with P&L responsibility in a relevant B2B
production environment of customer-made products;
• Demonstrable experience in integrating different corporate cultures and
(production) processes in a manufacturing company;
• Have strong commercial affinity; already successfully managed sales teams and processes.
• Relevant competencies in the various Lean methodologies.
• Experience in setting up new production lines.
• Experience with international companies and international trade is a plus.
• Leadership, interpersonal skills and personal commitment required to
work effectively with employees, customers and suppliers. A collegial team spirit is an
essential requirement for this position.
• Ability to operate in a disciplined, high-quality and dynamic environment.
• Flexible/solution-oriented/pragmatic/hands-on.
• Good communicator/people manager/cooperation with different cultures.
• Problem solver/continuous improvement/stress resistant.
• Helicopter view and data-driven capabilities.
• Languages : German, with a good understanding of English.
• Location: in the area of Düsseldorf-Dortmund (or willing to move).
