Consultant Medical Director DACH

Our US headquartered Biotech client is starting to build their European operations exclusively through Morgan Prestwich. As local business entities are being established, we are looking to appoint a Medical Director - DACH region. The role can be based anywhere in Germany, with a focus on Immuno-Oncology.
The right candidates will be responsible for the clinical and strategic leadership of medical affairs in DACH region. This will involved late stage studies and launch reediness.
This is an Interim/Freelance/Consultant Medical Affairs position with an immediate start.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the local DACH medical affairs plan with a primary focus on Phase 3 and pre-launch activities.
- Refine and execute the mapping of Immuno-Oncology treatment centres, identifying key hubs and spokes, and collaborating with the Country Patient Access Lead to gather detailed insights into patient numbers, treatment pathways, and the overall Immuno-Oncology landscape.
- Conduct field scientific interactions with healthcare professionals (HCPs) in the DACH region, ensuring compliance with local regulations and guidelines.
- Support the Real World Evidence (RWE) Program in the DACH region, in alignment with global medical strategies.
- Attend local Immuno-Oncology scientific meetings, engage with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and HCPs, and seek opportunities to present relevant scientific publications in line with the broader scientific communications strategy.
- Participate in German Early Scientific Advice meetings, collaborating with local teams to prepare materials and present the medical strategy.
- Work closely with the DACH Patient Access Lead to engage KOLs in dossier strategy development and support key stages of the reimbursement process, including hearing preparations.
- Contribute to the DACH-specific Patient Access Strategy Plan, ensuring alignment between medical and patient access teams for the successful launch of the Immuno-Oncology treatment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified Doctor of Medicine (MD).
- Additional qualifications such as a University degree, Master’s, or Ph.D. in pharmaceutical science, healthcare management, or a related field are an advantage.
- 12+ years of experience in medical affairs, preferably in a biotech or pharmaceutical company.
- Knowledge of the healthcare systems within the DACH region, with experience in the German AMNOG reimbursement pathway being an advantage.
- Proven track record of working in rare disease, specialty medicine development, with hands-on experience in medical affairs strategy and delivery during late-stage development and launch.
