As a Principal Data Scientist atAignostics, you will play a crucial role in shaping the scientificand technical direction and integrity of our data science platform,projects, and products. You will work hand in hand with ourcollaborators in academia and industry to push the state of the artfor digital pathology. Your expertise will be instrumental indriving scientific and technical excellence across all data scienceteams, ensuring we deliver high-quality, scalable solutions thattransform complex biomedical data into actionable insights forcancer research and diagnostics. You will report directly to our VPof Data Science.

Data Science or Machine Learning? Wedo both at Aignostics, and are convinced that both are needed forsuccess. You can expect to work on a broad spectrum of topics fromdeep learning with foundation and other state-of-the-art models onterabytes of data to projects in low sample regimes and veryhigh-dimensional and multimodal data. Where your expertise isneeded
  • Own the technical directionand scientific integrity of our data science platform, models, aswell as algorithms
  • Advise our CTO and VP ofData Science on the data science vision ofAignostics
  • Align our data science strategy withbusiness objectives to provide a competitiveadvantage
  • Resolve technical and scientificconflicts across teams and harmonize models, analyses, andtechnologies to unlock synergies
  • Advise productmanagement on technical and scientific feasibility, cost, and risksof complex product features
  • Drive technical andscientific design, planning, and integration of our platform acrosssystems and algorithms
  • Provide technical andscientific guidance in data science model, algorithm, and systemdesign reviews for all teams
  • Educate senior andmid-level data scientists to bring them up to the nextlevel
  • Demonstrate long-term thinking and utmosttechnical and scientific excellence in your individualcontributions
  • Lead the technical and scientificstrategic planning and execution across the TechOrg's quarterlyroadmap
  • Champion the drive for the higheststandards across data science teams
  • Driveyearly operational readiness reviews of our data science models,algorithms, and systems, collaborating with owningteams
  • Guide data science teams in maintainingup-to-date, high-quality documentation andcode

What we are lookingfor
  • Advanced degree in Data Science,Machine Learning, Statistics, Computer Science, SoftwareEngineering, or a related field
  • 8+ years ofdata science development experience, with at least 5 years insenior leadership roles
  • Proven track record ofdriving technical and scientific excellence and innovation inorganizations with 50+ scientists andengineers
  • Excellent communication skills, ableto articulate complex technical concepts to both technical andnon-technical stakeholders
  • Extensive experiencewith machine learning and statistical concepts, including advancedtopics such as self-supervised learning, foundation models,explainable AI (XAI), multimodal models, AutoML, or survivalanalysis
  • Extensive background in large-scaledeep learning models and systems, machine learning and data sciencedesign patterns, software architecture, and cleancoding
  • Extensive experience in designing andimplementing large-scale, distributed machine learning models andsystems
  • Extensive expertise in multipleprogramming languages and frameworks
  • Deepunderstanding of cloud technologies (GCP, AWS), containerizationand orchestration(Kubernetes)
Ideally, youalso:
  • Contribute to open-sourceprojects and technical publications
  • Haveexperience with large scale data processing systems such as Ray,Spark, etc.
  • Have worked in a regulatedenvironment, e.g. financial services, aerospace orhealthcare
  • Have knowledge of digital pathologyor medical imaging
  • Have experience withbiomedical data processing andanalysis
