Legal & Compliance Director (m/w/d)

A leading global investment bank, with a notable presence spanning continents, are seeking an adept Legal & Compliance Director to strengthen their team in Frankfurt, Germany. Working collaboratively within the international Legal & Compliance team and alongside local counterparts, the successful candidate will assume a pivotal role in managing legal and regulatory affairs for the organization's entities in Germany and Switzerland.
Key Responsibilities
- Transaction and Compliance Oversight: Provide legal support throughout transactions, including contract negotiation and due diligence, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies to mitigate legal risks.
- Risk Management and Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with business units to assess and mitigate legal and compliance risks, developing strategies to safeguard the organization's interests and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
- Legal Advisory Services: Offer specialized legal advice on German legal matters, including compliance with regulatory frameworks, contract interpretation, and risk management, supporting both legal and compliance functions.
- Policy Development and Implementation: Develop and enforce robust legal and compliance procedures, such as Compliance Manuals and Codes of Ethics, to uphold legal standards and regulatory requirements during transactions and business operations.
Candidate Profile
- Legal Expertise: A fully qualified German lawyer with a minimum of two years of relevant experience in German and/or investment banking regulatory compliance, including financial crime and data protection regulation.
- Regulatory Acumen: In-depth understanding of applicable laws, regulations, and guidance, particularly as they relate to BaFin in Germany, demonstrating the ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory frameworks effectively.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization, fostering a culture of integrity, trust, and professionalism.
- Proactive Approach: A proactive, hands-on, and collaborative attitude, demonstrating a readiness to take initiative, assume responsibility, and be held accountable for outcomes.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in both German and English, with the ability to articulate ideas and information clearly, logically, and succinctly to diverse audiences.
- Organizational Abilities: Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and effectively project manage tasks under tight deadlines and pressure.
