Our Client develops, builds, and operates renewable energy solutions across a large number of countries and regions in Europe. Rapid growth is enabling them to open branches and set up Joint Ventures in several key European markets. Owing to this, they are now looking for a Sole Legal Counsel for Germany to help with the goal of promoting digitally optimized green energy solutions.


Purpose:


The Legal Counsel, reporting to the General Counsel, will manage and supervise a variety of regulatory, M&A and commercial matters to support the business of the Group in its expansions in Europe with a specific focus on Germany.


You Will:

  • Provide high quality legal and strategic advice on day-to-day support to the Legal & Compliance function and the management;
  • Participate and provide assistance in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
  • Review contracts with local municipalities, support in negotiations with permitting agencies under the federal renewable energy laws and related laws;
  • Review and negotiate land-lease contracts;
  • Review contracts, policies and other legal documents ensuring compliance with the Group policies;
  • Participate in cross-functional teams, counselling stakeholders on legal, commercial or reputational risks in a user-friendly and pragmatic manner;
  • Liaise with the Corporate Secretary of the Group in relation to different activities to be implemented in Germany;
  • Support and manage external advisers (e.g., lawyers, public notaries, translators, etc.) in a cost-effective way;
  • Provide advice in relation to day-to-day topics (e.g., IT, privacy, compliance, labour);
  • Manage and perform ad-hoc cross-functional projects initiated by the company;
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the Legal & Compliance team on joint initiatives.


Main Requirements:

  • A desire and a passion to contribute to the energy transition with a pan-European focus
  • Around 2-5 years of previous work experience in international law firms or companies
  • A university-level degree in law
  • Knowledge of German law and practice for energy projects
  • Familiarity with corporate governance processes and regulations
  • Capability to deal with corporate documentation
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with critical thinking
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, listening, influencing and presentation skills
  • Team player, with cultural awareness and curiosity
  • Proficiency-level German and English language skills, with skills in other European languages considered a plus.
