The Actuarial Risk Manager will be responsible for the delivery of all actuarial risk management activities within the LH1 Munich.
They will have a direct management view reporting line into the LH1 CRO as well as being a key advisor to the LH1 Munich CEO.
From a legal view the reporting line will depend on location (London = UKLB CEO, Madrid = LH1.2 CEO and Munich = Head of LH1.4).
LH1 Munich encompasses all Traditional and FinRe Life and Health reinsurance markets across all of Europe and Israel (excluding UK, Iberia and Italy).
Your Job
Actuarial Risk Management
- Responsible for the delivery of all actuarial risk management activities within LH1 Munich
- Reviews of large and complex transactions, especially with respect to financial, operational, legal and reputational risk
- Reviews of the LH1 Munich pricing bases, product designs and tools
- Working collaboratively with other LH1 Risk Management units on projects and reviews
- Risk reporting to LH1 CRO, LH1 Munich Leadership team and central functions
- Internal business governance activity within LH1 Munich
- Review and assessment of other risk types e.g. market, credit, concentration, liquidity etc.
- Support LH1 Munich to write and maintain profitable commercial business and innovation initiatives, in line with the business strategy and risk appetite, acting as a business/risk partner
- Communicate Risk Management principles and foster a healthy Risk culture across LH1 Munich
- Maintain and improve the LH1 Munich risk management framework, policies and processes
- Maintain the LH1 Munich Underwriting strategy striking the balance between risk and commercial demands
- Periodically represent Risk Management in special initiatives (e.g. product developments and business improvements)
- Be a point of reference for the business for guidelines and control processes
Essential
- Life & Health pricing experience, in particular for LH1 traditional markets
- Confidence and diplomacy to challenge peers and manage upwards
- Effectively dealing with senior stakeholders
- Ability to build an understanding of internal and external client strategy and needs
- Experience manging and delivering projects
- Strong spoken and written English language skills
- Experience in Actuarial Risk Management
- Knowledge and experience of Munich Re internal guidelines and approval processes
- Understanding and familiarity with a range of Structure Re solutions
- Spoken and written German language skills
Essential:
University graduate or equivalent; qualified actuary
Desirable:
A postgraduate qualification in insurance or risk management (e.g. CERA)
