The Klinikum Dortmund gGmbH (run by the city) is a hospital of the University of Witten/Herdecke and a maximum care hospital with over 1,422 beds, around 4,600 employees and all medical specialties (except psychiatry). The hospital treats over 315,000 patients annually, of which around 65,000 are inpatients.

The use of data in medicine offers great potential to improve patient care. To achieve this goal, we want to exploit the potential by setting up a clinical data repository and improving data exchange with other service providers and our patients. As part of the setup, the medical data from different systems must be standardized and linked in order to be able to make them available via interoperable interfaces in the central CDR.
We are therefore looking for a full-time employee as soon as possible.

Data Manager (f/i/m) / Data Engineer (f/i/m)

Your main areas of activity are:

  • (Partial) management of projects in the area of ​​data management
  • Selection, introduction and operation of a clinical data platform (CDR / Clinical Data Repository)
  • Design and development of interoperable interface standards in cooperation with the manufacturer of the CDR
  • Advising the committees on data governance issues and contributing to the development of relevant guidelines
  • Gradual connection of our clinical systems and the patient portal to the CDR
  • Testing the usability of AI applications and supporting their introduction into clinical operations
  • Evaluation, monitoring and analysis of data flows as well as identification and resolution of data quality problems
  • Operation and further development of our interface server (Cloverleaf)
  • Handling support requests in cooperation with internal IT and external service providers as well as documentation in the existing ticket system
  • Organisation and, if necessary, implementation of key user training

Your profile and qualifications:

  • Completed studies in the information technology field (e.g. medical informatics) and/or training in an IT profession or a comparable qualification
  • Professional experience in the field of hospital IT and initial project experience in the implementation of IT projects
  • Experience in analyzing (large) databases and proficient use of database, programming, statistics and data visualization tools
  • Experience with the communication standards used in the healthcare sector (HL-7, FHIRE, etc.) and terminologies is particularly desirable
  • You enjoy familiarizing yourself with new systems with the necessary level of detail in order to design suitable interfaces and have the necessary passion for the added value use of health data
  • A high degree of customer orientation and communication skills combined with analytical and conceptual thinking
  • Enjoy the independent development of our systems in collaboration with your team and users

Your tasks as a data manager include consulting, support and collaboration in the introduction and operation of a CDR and associated standards. You will have the opportunity to help shape the development of the new data management area in the IT department.
