What do you contribute?

We, the Software and Prototypes for Automation (SPA) department, are an R&D Competence Center for the Siemens Mobility GmbH with the mission to innovate technologies in the fields of digitalization, automation, and electrification in the Mobility domain. Our interdisciplinary resources work together to conduct innovative research, development, and engineering to execute projects in driver assistance, autonomous driving, and robotics; computer vision, augmented and virtual reality; urban traffic optimization, computer-aided visual inspection, predictive maintenance, etc.

  • Code Contribution: Collaborate with our development team to write high-quality, testable, and performant code. Implement new features and refactor existing solutions.
  • Product Testing: Test our software products rigorously and provide valuable feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Innovative Research: Explore novel concepts and methodologies related to data management for machine learning (ML) development. Investigate AI applications for computer vision tasks and leverage large language models (LLMs) to gain insights from our data.
  • Data Curation: Create shared datasets and curate ML models to meet our customers' needs.
  • Database Expertise: Work with both SQL and NoSQL databases. Design and implement scalable, robust systems capable of handling vast amounts of data.
  • Full-Stack Collaboration: Collaborate with front-end developers and DevOps engineers to create full-stack solutions that provide seamless access to our data warehouses.

What do you bring along?

  • You are currently studying Computer Science or a closely related field.
  • You have successfully completed foundational courses covering like Databases, Algorithms, and Data Structures; Theoretical Computer Science; or Software Engineering.
  • Passion for Coding: You love to code and have practical experience in Python development.
  • Linux Familiarity: Knowledge of the Linux ecosystem is beneficial.
  • AI Exposure: Practical experience with deploying, using, and/or training AI models is highly appreciated.
  • Independent Work Ethic: You value flexibility and can work independently with strong attention to detail.
  • Curiosity and Adaptability: An open mindset and eagerness to learn new technologies are essential.
  • Effective Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
