Join us as a Financial Control Manager in NatWest Bank Europe

  • This is a fantastic new opportunity to take on a new career challenge in NatWest Bank Europe (NWBE)
  • You'll manage NWBE's balance sheet & off-balance sheet positions and risks in line with local and group policies, whilst ensuring full compliance with relevant German, UK and broader European regulatory requirements
  • You'll contribute to the Controlling function, including income and cost controlling as well as related budget & forecast procedures and MI
What you'll do

We'll look to you to develop NWBE's Controlling function and build and manage a balance sheet that is resilient to economic and regulatory pressures and aligned to business strategic plans.

You'll ensure we remain adequately and efficiently funded and capitalised over the planning horizon, produce relevant MI reporting on business development, including balance sheet and profit & loss (P&L) KPIs and be a trusted business partner for forecasting and budget matters.

In addition, you'll:

  • Manage Treasury's balance sheet, including NWBE's capital and other unsecured funding, the liquid asset buffer and any FX and derivative positions
  • Support on preparation and maintenance of budgets and rolling financial forecasts including feeding into centrally managed budgeting processes
  • Maintain proper management reporting including monthly balance sheet and P&L development to the management board, quarterly townhall presentations as well as to stakeholders within NatWest Group
  • Support on preparation of NWBE's Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process ("ICAAP") and Internal Liquidity Adequacy Assessment Process ("ILAAP") as well as Recovery & Resolution Planning as well as maintaining and improving the respective framework
  • Support the process of issuing regulatory capital instruments to NWBE's parent entity as well as managing and directing NWBE's distribution and repayment plans
  • Understand and advise on regulatory developments, industry norms and peer positions in relation to capital, liquidity and funding
  • Ensure regulatory compliance at all times and assist the business to maximize return, whilst always remaining within risk appetite and facilitate the franchise product offering to customers within those parameters
The skills you'll need

We're looking for someone with a professional treasury, controlling or other finance qualification along with significant experience in treasury, finance or controlling. You'll have relevant experience of processes including budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, capital management, funding and liquidity management, interest rate risk, and FX management. Along with excellent stakeholder management skills, you'll bring strong analytical skills and a critical thinker mindset.

You'll also need:

  • The ability to prepare documentation on complex business operations related circumstances
  • The ability, willingness and confidence to challenge opinions, to offer alternatives and to construct a compelling argument to support an opinion
  • Experience of managing relationships across a wide range of stakeholders
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to enable you to build and maintain close working relationships with subject matter experts across the organisation
  • Experience of relevant German legal policies, regulatory & statutory obligations and risk management
  • To speak, write and read fluently in both German and English
