In the Faculty of Environment and Natural Sciences in the Department of Organic Chemistry and Polymers, the following positions are available in Senftenberg at the earliest possible date:

2 positions as Academic assistant (m/f/d) (qualification position with the aim of a doctorate)
limited for 4 years, part-time 66 %, E 13 TV-L

We are particularly interested in bio-based, bio-inspired and degradable polymers in order to make the use of polymers more sustainable and to enable functions through specific interactions. We work at the interface between organic and macromolecular chemistry using synthetic and analytical methods.

One qualification position will focus on ring-opening polymerizations for the synthesis of functionalizable, biodegradable polymers and tailoring of their properties for sustainable applications.

The focus of the second qualification position is on the synthesis and characterization of bio-based soft materials (hydrogels) with potential applications in biomedicine.

These are your tasks:

Contribution to teaching, including:
  • Participation in the fulfillment of the teaching tasks of the department according to content and methodological specifications, currently for degree courses in Applied Natural Sciences (B.Sc.) and Materials Chemistry (M.Sc.), to impart specialist knowledge, practical skills and instruction in the application of scientific methods
  • Preparation, implementation and follow-up/evaluation of exercises and practicals
  • Assistance in the preparation of lectures and seminars as well as other teaching-related administrative tasks
  • Development/updating of teaching materials, aids and task collections
  • Preparing, conducting and evaluating oral and written examinations
  • Participation in the supervision of student theses and dissertations
Research work:
  • Scientific work within the scope of the research focus of the department
  • Collaboration in the preparation and implementation of third-party funded projects (e. g. BMBF, DFG, industry projects)
  • Lecturing and publishing on the subject of research
  • Preparation of contributions for reports and presentations
  • own in-depth scientific work in preparation for a doctorate or for the provision of additional scientific services amounting to at least one third of the respective working time
  • Other administrative tasks related to research
What we expect from you:

A university degree as defined by the TV-L pay scale (accredited Master's degree / university diploma / equivalent) in a subject relevant to the position (chemistry or comparable) is required.

Solid written and spoken English skills are also required.

Personally, you are characterized by the ability to work scientifically, independence, flexibility and good communication skills.
