Job Title:

We are seeking a highly motivated Instrument Scientist/Postdoc to join our team at the Jülich Centre for Neutron Science (JCNS) located at Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Zentrum in Garching near Munich. As part of the team, you will contribute to the development and operation of the neutron spectrometer PANDA, one of the world-leading cold TAS instruments with solid user base and scientific cooperation.

  • Support the commissioning of options like ADR cryostat and BAMBUS multiplexing secondary spectrometer
  • Provide local contact support for users of the neutron spectrometer PANDA at MLZ
  • Contribute to the instrument development to meet future experimental challenges
  • Develop your scientific program in Quantum Materials and Collective Phenomena
  • Conduct world-class research and publish findings in relevant fields
  • Work on increasing the user base at MLZ

Requirements:

  • Master's degree followed by a PhD in Physics, Magnetism, Quantum Phenomena, or related discipline
  • Experience in neutron scattering methods for condensed matter systems
  • Technical interest in neutron instrumentation
  • Track record in inelastic neutron scattering research
  • Experience in acquiring third-party funding and teaching
  • Ability to communicate with the general public about neutron scattering techniques
  • Proficiency in English, German skills up to B2 level
  • Initiative, creativity, good interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
