Klinik für Neurologie der Universitätsmedizin Göttingen sucht zum frühestmöglichen Eintrittstermin:
"New experimental approaches to study heteroplasmy in mitochondria- Heteroplasmy describes the situation in which two or more mtDNA variants exist within the same cell. It is often related to diseases. The molecular mechanisms that determine the spread of specific mtDNA variants within growing somatic cells are unknown. The ultimate aim of this project is to investigate the molecular mechanisms that determine mitochondrial heteroplasmy. You will establish a novel microscopy-based system to transplant mitochondria between cells and investigate their fate by super-resolution microscopy. Cultivated human cells will serve as model systems. State-of-the-art and largely unexplored techniques will be established and used for this research question. Microscopy driven work will be combined with molecular biology. The project has the potential to open up a new research area.
