We are seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD student or postdoctoral researcher to join our research group in the Biochemistry of Signal Dynamics at the Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences.
Research FocusThe successful candidate will be involved in a project focused on reconstituting the initiation of autophagy using purified proteins. Autophagy is a process of regulated degradation that plays a wide range of roles in cellular housekeeping, including removal of damaged or unneeded organelles, intracellular pathogens, and protein aggregates.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct biochemical and cell biological experiments to reconstitute and characterize newly identified and purified macromolecular super-complexes.
- Apply a variety of biochemical and cell biological techniques, including X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy.
- Collaborate with other national and international research groups.
- Attend international workshops and meetings.
Candidates should hold a Master's degree (or equivalent) for PhD student positions or a PhD degree in a relevant area of the life sciences for postdoctoral positions. Initial experience in protein biochemistry or structural biology is required. The candidate should be passionate about science, curiosity-driven, self-motivated, and eager to work in an international and multi-disciplinary team.
