On our way to 2030, we want to realize a significant higher renewable energy and waste heat share, which require a comprehensive transformation of our generation sites and assets. We are looking for you to join BEW - Berliner Energie & Wärme AG as a

Contract Manager for heating projects

in Berlin on a permanent basis as soon as possible.

Your role

As a Contract Manager, your main task will be to independently design, manage and efficiently implement our contracts for our construction projects. You will work closely with our legal and procurement departments to prepare and review contract documents and prepare negotiation strategies and provide expert support to our project managers in commercial negotiations. As a 'Tender Manager', you will manage and coordinate the timely preparation of all tender documents in a multidisciplinary project team and review them with regard to potential risks. You work in a matrix organization and your reporting is therefore geared towards the requirements of different stakeholder groups.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • You are responsible for updating contracts through contract amendments and work variations.
  • You manage contractual interfaces between client and contractor as well as between different contractors.
  • You identify potential claims of the contracting parties and develop measures to minimize risk.
  • You assess, defend against and negotiate claims.
  • You monitor contract management and contract processes, contract deadlines, changes to legislation or standards and compliance with the scope of works under the contracts.
  • You will be responsible for the provision of documents and evidence in the event of a contractual dispute (court-proof documentation).
  • You are responsible for the creation and structured filing of defect notifications prior to taking over from the contractor.
  • You provide contract training for the project teams.
  • You promote the continuous improvement process in contract management, e.g. through "lessons learnt" from your own and other projects.

Profil
  • You have a very good command of the English language.
  • You are able to communicate in German and you are willing to improve these skills.
  • You have a degree from a university of applied sciences or university in business administration, law, engineering, other technical disciplines or equivalent.
  • You have sound experience in (international) contract management during the contract design, negotiation and execution phase.
  • You have experience in reviewing and drafting company-specific bespoke contractsand standard contract templates (e.g. FIDIC, VOB, etc.).
  • Preferred: You have experience in European procurement procedures as a contracting authority under EU sector regulation.
  • You have strong negotiation, commercial and communication skills.
  • You are a team player and have the ability to motivate project teams.
