approximately 11,000 students and 2,000 employees, it is one of the largest employers in the Trier region.

In Trier University's Faculty VI - Spatial and Environmental Sciences - the following position is to be filled

as soon as possible with lifelong civil servant status:
W3-Professor of Biology and its Didactics (LBesG)

(m/w/d)

The future holder of the position should have a proven track record in research and teaching of biology and

its didactics, representing the whole breadth of the field. His/her teaching tasks will include didactic training

and coordination of Bachelors and Masters degree courses for teaching biology at high schools, junior high

schools and parts of general education in elementary schools (B.Ed., M.Ed.). The teaching duties will also

include specialist training in biology.

Relevant expertise should be evident in the form of publication and research activity, teaching experience

and successful acquisition of third-party funding. A content focus in the areas of sustainable development,

scientific communication and/or global change is required, as well as interdisciplinary research activity in

further development and harmonization of teacher training at the University. Experience in academic self
- administration and raising third-party funds is also expected.

The official duties are defined by - 48 Higher Education Act of Rhineland-Palatinate (HochSchG). The

requirements for employment, i.e., proof of pedagogical suitability and excellent scientific achievements,

are defined by - 49 HochSchG. The successful applicant is expected to be able to offer courses in German.

As the advertised position entails didactic tasks in teacher training, the applicant should also be able to

provide proof of three years of applicable school experience (cf. - 49 Para. 3 Clause 1 HochSchG). Reference

is made to Section sentences 5 and 6 of the Higher Education Act.

The state of Rhineland-Palatinate and Trier University represent a support concept in which a high presence

of lecturers is expected on-site at the University. Severely disabled people and people who are treated the
