- Ideally have a full clean Driving Licence
- General building maintenance and repair skills including painting, door maintenance, general washroom maintenance and mounting / fixing equipment to walls
- Written and spoken English and German language skills
Key Accountabilities:
You will work with the Berlin College Principal to adapt, implement and manage existing Security, Servicing and Maintenance, Health and Safety, Purchasing, and IT policies and procedures for the Berlin site.
Facilities Management:
- Line management of Estates & Facilities Assistants and evening/weekend freelance team.
- Overseeing rota and ensuring that all shifts are covered and the college remains open during agreed and published hours.
- Ensure the best allocation of equipment at timetabling stage for all taught sessions.
- Making recommendations for the purchase of new musical equipment to meet the needs of the timetable, and any other equipment or furniture needed for teaching and learning or office and classroom use.
- Organise authorised purchases i.e. raising purchase orders, coordinating delivery, authorising and logging invoices for Estates related purchases.
- Manage team to ensure that all teaching rooms are laid out correctly and have the requested and necessary equipment to allow the smooth running of the day's lessons.
- Manage an advance booking system allowing BIMM lecturers and students onsite access to BIMM equipment as required.
- Ensuring that all site users adhere to BIMM Institute's general security procedures.
Estates Management:
- Liaise with contractors and all parties involved in the building developments for existing and new buildings.
- Be responsible for making recommendations for and the organisation and supervision of authorised minor works, including cosmetic, servicing and maintenance work.
- Responsible for annual Estates & Facilities budget, in collaboration with College Principal.
- Organise and supervise cleaning contracts.
- Set up and maintain security systems, including but not limited to, equipment tracking, securing and identification.
- Manage student behaviour both on and offsite and in the immediate environs of the Institute.
- Ensuring that the building is clean and tidy (including toilets and area directly surrounding College) and monitored throughout the day.
- Maintain an accurate and uptodate inventory of all equipment, and making provisions for repair, renewal, or replacement as required.
Health and Safety:
- Adapt Health and Safety Manuals for staff and students to become site specific.
