Fotografiska is the Contemporary Museum of Photography, Arts, and Culture. A destination to discover world-class photography, inspiring programming, elevated dining, and surprising new experiences, Fotografiska was founded in Stockholm in 2010. The Museum has since opened a treasured, historic landmark building in NYC's Flatiron District, expanded to Tallinn, and will welcome a Berlin Museum in 2023.

Slated to open in 2023, Fotografiska Berlin will be set inside a unique historic and cultural landmark and home to an unexpected mix of world-class art, vibrant cultural programming, and exceptional dining experiences.

Housing 5,500 square meters, the architects Herzog & de Meuron have been assigned to carry out renovations to the cultural heritage site.


The Role


Our Fotografiska Barbacks aid in maintaining the success of the Cafe & Bar Beverage team, pre, during, and post the hours of service.

Requiring an ability to anticipate the needs of the Beverage team in both cocktail bar and cafe-style service, the role will work in a high touch and fast-paced environment.

Observant and efficient, they strive to work within the team atmosphere, ensuring our Members and Guests receive prompt, seamless and exceptional service.

Reporting directly to the Cafe & Bar Manager, Barbacks represent the Cafe & Bar operations with hospitality, warmth, and grace in every interaction.


Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience as a Barback, Server Attendant or similar entrylevel role in luxury hospitality, food + beverage environments.
  • Ensure the Cafe & Bar are set and ready for service with detailed attention to keeping the bar fully stocked throughout service and restocked end of service for the following shift.
  • Set up and break down the bar's with attention to detail and consistency, always following the set checklist for all duties.
  • Check inventory par levels to ensure the bar team have access to all liquor products, mixers and collateral, available at their disposal at all times through out service.
  • Detailed organization of Liquor storage, wine cellar inventory and all liquor product placement. Ability to receive and stock deliveries in the correct areas of the of Cafe & Bar operations, with a clear and organized approach.
  • Clear, wash and restock glassware throughout shift, maintaining correct par levels of clean glassware at all bar and floor stations for service.
  • Follow recipes and par guidelines to make specialty syrups, juices and garnishes.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of drink menus to assist bar staff with running of drinks and the ability to articulate to guests in an engaged and thoughtful manner.
  • Maintain thorough working knowledge of coffee and tea menus and be able to articulate to guests in an engaged and thoughtful manner.
  • Thorough working knowledge of all beverages: coffee/tea/nonalcoholic/wines/beers/spirits.
  • Ensure the coffee area is set and ready for service and always kept tidy manner as it is guest facing.
  • Consistently follow the Cafe & Bar sequence of service utilizing all proper procedures standardized by the F&B leadership team.
  • Transporting ice to multiple levels and keeping ice levels for all bar activations.
  • Maintain bar fridge cleanliness and maintenance, defrosting of bar fridges to accurate temperature's if required.
  • Competency in conversing with Members and Guests regarding Fotografiska programs and amenities.
  • Impeccable customer service by responding promptly to Member / Guest requests and soliciting feedback to the Leadership team to always improve service.
  • Attend regular operational meetings to ensure effective coordination and cooperation between departments.
  • Knowledge of craft and classic cocktails along with old world / new world wines a plus.
