Job Description
The polymer electrolyte fuel cell is the most promising chemical energy converter for the electrification of heavy-duty transportation. A current challenge is to select reliable and cost effective materials such that the polymer electrolyte fuel cell achieves the required energy density, lifetime as well as performance. For this goal, it is crucial to identify the gas transport mechanisms and better understand their physical dependencies. One of the components in the fuel cell is the gas diffusion layer, whose gas transport resistance contributes significantly to the power losses.
- The aim of your Master thesis is to break down the behavior and to show its physical dependencies.
- For this purpose, you will calibrate an existing measurement method for determining permeability, determine the measurement accuracy of the method and test selected materials.
- Last but not least, you will investigate how these materials behave under mechanical load and changed temperature.
- Education: Master studies in the field of Natural Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or comparable
- Personality and Working Practice: an independent and motivated person
- Enthusiasm: preference for experimental work with simulative support
- Languages: good in German and English
Start: according to prior agreement
Duration: 6 months
