Tasks

We are seeking an experienced Team Accounting Lead to join our finance department in Berlin, Germany.

The ideal candidate will be well-versed in HGB (Handelsgesetzbuch) accounting principles (US GAAP desirable) and possess strong leading skills to manage and guide our accounting team effectively, directly Reporting to the Director of Finance.

  • Oversee and manage the accounting team with the Director of Finance, ensuring accuracy and compliance with German GAAP (HGB).
  • Coordinate and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with HGB.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist on the development and implementation of financial/accounting policies, as well as standardize procedures to improve processes and audit.
  • Statutory GmbH Audit.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment across the company.
  • Collaborate with other department leads to support overall department goals and objectives.
  • Liaise with external auditors to ensure efficient audit processes.
  • Being proactive and a problem-solver.
Requirements
  • Bachelor and/or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field with professional accounting qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven accounting experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of HGB accounting standards and experience in VAT filing in accordance with HGB.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems (Business Central desirable).
  • Fluency in German and strong proficiency in English, both verbal and written.
