The Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Garching offers an oppor­tunity to partici­pate in a post­doctorate programme within the divi­sion Plasma Dynamics (PD) to perform research activities at the fusion experi­ments ASDEX Upgrade (AUG) and Wendelstein 7-X (W7-X). We are looking for a

Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/div) in Experimental Physics

Operation of the thermal helium beam diagnostics at AUG and W7-X for fast measure­ments of temperature and density at the plasma edge Analysis of the acquired data and comparison with state-of-the-art plasma turbulence codes Supervising Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD students
PhD in experimental physics Good command of the English language, written and spoken

Desirable skills

Knowledge of high temperature plasma physics with a focus on fusion plasma diagnostics Experience and knowledge in the field of turbulence investigations or plasma edge physics Scientific interpretation and analysis of measured data

The position is limited to a duration of two years. The salary is based on the assign­ment of tasks and quali­fica­tions and goes up to pay group 13 according to the Collec­tive Agree­ment for the Public Service (TVöD Bund).
