Summary

About the Position:
The 21st Theater Sustainment Command (21st TSC) Safety program encompasses military personnel, Department of Army Civilians, and host nation employees, as well as numerous units and personnel placed under the operational control of the 21st TSC during peacekeeping missions, military operations, and deployment/redeployment operations in Europe and other countries as needed. Operations and Activities are widely diversified, complex and often involve high-risk hazards.



Duties
  • Serves as the Safety and Occupational Health Specialist with the 21st TSC for all safety occupational health protection matters in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
  • Develops comprehensive Radiation Safety guidelines in accordance with NRC, DOD, DA, and host nation experts, applying DOD and NATO standards.
  • Provides guidance to subordinate unit commanders through media policy and procedural guidance, program direction and staff visits.
  • Performs safety evaluations for a wide range of industrial, tactical, explosives and radiation operations.
  • Identifies gaps in organization safety programs.
  • Controls assembly, analysis, summarization and dissemination of mishap, injury, and all illness data for the command, to include all units under the operational control of the 21st TSC.
  • Maintains oversight of the collateral duty Radiation Safety Officers assigned to 21st TSC subordinate commands and units.
  • Position is designated "Emergency-Essential". Emergency-Essential designation takes precedence over any transportation agreement or military recall status. In a crisis situation the incumbent must continue to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to obtain and maintain CP-12 Occupational Safety and Health Specialist Level 1 certification within 18 months of employment.
  • Must be able to participate in readiness exercises.
  • Up to 25 percent TDY is required for this position.
  • This is a CP-12 Position. CP12 ACTEDS training is mandatory for personnel filling these positions.
