We are looking for a Head of Strategic Controlling (m/f/d), based in Munich.

The Impact You Will Have

Reporting to the Global Head of Global Performance Steering, you will drive monthly and quarterly financial closing as well as the strategig planning process. You will further develop performance steering and cycle management skills. You will act as sparring partner and advisor to the Chief Financial Officer of Allianz Commercial.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

  • Lead and manage your team consisting of direct reports and matrix responsibility.

  • Develop strategy for your area of responsponsibilty in alignment with company and functional goals. Provide employees with guidance on overall strategic picture and how the targets of your functional area targets are aligned to it. Define clear and challenging targets, monitor progress and address performance issues appropriately and effectively. Set priorities.

  • Drive organizational set-up for your area of responsibility including personnel selection and manage budget within plan.

  • Coach and develop employees in a continuously changing enviornment. Empower employees to execute tasks independently. Foster behavior of team members as desired according to standards of the company and live up to the matrix organization.

  • Drive best practice sharing, efficiency increases, global standard setting and harmonization.

  • Foster cross-functional collaboration across the business to enhance overall business understanding.

  • Set and develop consistent reporting standards for your area of responsibility.

  • Facilitate and drive Planning Dialogue and Strategic Dialogue with our shareholder Allianz SE.

  • Drive monthly/quarterly financial closing and steering; Support the annual capital-based steering cycle.

  • Provide the necessary strategic and financial analysis of Allianz Commercial’s financial performance incorporating long-term trends (e.g. competitor and market analysis) and derive conclusions for financial reporting and forecasting to enable decision-making and forward-looking profitability.

  • Manage the global forecasting process with various stakeholders across the organization.

  • Act as a point of contact for Group communication and requests, respond reliably to ad-hoc requests from internal and external customers to support business decisions.

  • Set and develop standards in assessing costs and benefits of revenue and non-revenue generating business cases.

  • Interact wtih business partners to allow for comprehensive assessment of business cases.

  • Provide recomendations on business cases to Global Head of Global Performance Steering.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • Degree preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Mathematics or any other relevant analytical science or qualified by experience in related discipline.

  • 5-7 years of experience in leading and developing international and virtual teams within a complex global matrix environment.

  • Significant managerial experience in insurance or financial services with the Planning and Controlling area.

  • 5-7 years of experience of leading change and delivering large scale international projects in various business scenarios, including restructuring, integration, growth.

  • In-depth experience in reporting and business analysis concepts and requirements of an international portfolio with high volatile segments.

  • Deep understanding of the product portfolio.

  • Excellent ability to generate appropriate reports for internal and external customers and relevant KPIs and metrics to transparently track progress and to identify important needs or changes in the business.

  • Excellent understanding of non-life insurance business including its main processes and requirements, e.g. reserving techniques, actuarial and performance management.

  • Advanced comprehensive knowledge of international, local, and Allianz acounting policies, standards and processes (e.g. GAAP, IAS, IFRS).

  • Excellent ability to navigate complexity as well as excellent decision making skills.

  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills; Good conflict management skills.

  • Fluent English skills, any other languages advantageous
