DNV’s section for Fire Safety & Life-Saving CMC is looking for an Approval Engineer to join our section.
The Fire Safety & Life-Saving CMC section is part of the Approval Center Europe in DNV Maritime Ship Classification. We are international and Cross-location team with colleagues working in Oslo, Hamburg or Gdynia, reporting to Line Manager located in Poland.
We are looking for someone based in either Oslo or Hamburg to join our team.
As an approval engineer in our unit, you will become part of a highly qualified team focusing on ship safety. We perform Type Approval and MED (Marine Equipment Directive) Certification of Fire Safety and Life Saving Equipment as DNV has been appointed by Norwegian and German authorities to undertake MED assessment procedures as a Notified Body for Norway and for Germany. The directive applies to equipment placed onboard new or existing ships flying the flag of an EU country, Norway or Iceland.

It is expected that training for acquiring the relevant MTAS (competence confirmation element) shall be provided by us, so that in due time the successful candidate will be able to work independently and provide high-quality solutions to our internal and external customer’s challenges within the framework of our rules and instructions.
Key working tasks include (but are not limited to) :
Certification (Type Approval, MED – Marin Equipment Directive, MER – Marine Equipment Regulation UK) of fire safety and life-saving equipment for all types of ships (mainly office based work- issuing of certificates). MSc or BSc within Naval Architecture, preferably with competency in Fire safety and Life-Saving. 0-5 years of work experience Thorough, with good analytical skills Customer oriented Result driven Good written and verbal communication skills in English Team player with a positive attitude who strive to obtain results for the team Experience in performing tests of fire safety / LSA equipment Motivated and eager to expand your skills Dedication for ship safety systems and innovative solutions, high integrity Flexibility with regard to work tasks, ability to adapt to the situation.Personal Qualities:
