:Which destinations or categories of rental homes should we recommend to customers when they browse our website or receive our newsletter? How can we provide the most relevant list of results in our vacation rental search? How can we account for market trends, inventory quality and customer behavior to dynamically improve our products?
HomeToGo’s Data Science team is responsible for supercharging our products, particularly in areas such as search, recommendations, and marketing. Leveraging our extensive demand, product, and supply data, we aim to deliver engagement and revenue-driving intelligence using sophisticated ML models. We are seeking to bolster our Data Science team to elevate these efforts to the next level and expand into new use cases.
As Lead Data Scientist, you will collaborate with our talented team of Data Scientists and partner with colleagues in various departments, including Search, Marketing, Analytics, and Engineering, to enhance and expand our AI-powered marketplace. This presents an exciting opportunity to join a team that significantly impacts HomeToGo's overall performance. You will tackle challenging problems and drive measurable business impact through our online A/B testing platform.
How you’ll add value:
Design quantitative models (leveraging ML and advanced analytics) to drive customer engagement, booking conversions and other key metricsEnsure proper selection of model offline quality metrics and maintain an adequate level of model explainabilityFacilitate the implementation of models into production by collaborating with your engineering partnersEnsure efficient and cohesive workflows in our Data Science efforts to maximize business impact, while acting as a valuable sparring partner and facilitator for a small team of Senior Data ScientistsServe as a consultative and creative partner for business and product stakeholders – understanding their needs and translating them into modeling problemsShape our long-term Data Science strategy as you help foster a close-knit Data community at HomeToGoYou’ll be successful in this role if you:
Have a proven track record as a Data Scientist in e-commerce or other modern digital servicesHave extensive hands-on experience in product analytics, advanced modeling and ML, with a high comfort level using Python and SQLHold an MSc or PhD, with a strong academic record, ideally in Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Economics, or another quantitative fieldHave experience driving Data Science projects and leading or mentoring Data Scientists, ideally with higher levels of seniorityHave experience in areas of Ranking, Recommender Systems or similarAre familiar with modern large-scale data warehousing solutions (e.g. Snowflake, BigQuery) and/or data processing engines (e.g. Spark, Presto) – ideally in the context of distributed cloud computing (e.g. AWS, GCP)Have the ability to thrive in a cross-functional setting: strong communication skills, ability to synthesize takeaways for non-technical partners, and a desire to influence business decisionsBring intellectual curiosity, a desire for continuous learning, and a collaborative team-player attitudeNote: We operate a rolling recruitment approach - no deadlines, just opportunities.
