HVAC Design Engineer

Sanden International (Europe) GmbH is looking for a HVAC Design Engineer (f/m/d) in Bad Nauheim. As a Mandarin-speaking professional, you will create innovative automotive HVAC systems that meet customer needs. Use your technical skills to bring ideas to life and work with a diverse international team to design and improve HVAC systems, components, and structures, contributing to the future of automotive technology.
Essential responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Lead the design of automotive HVAC systems based on customer specifications. This includes assigning tasks such as design, calculation, construction, and simulation to other engineers.
- Analyze and evaluate customer specifications to establish internal specifications for HVAC systems. Propose innovative design concepts based on thorough evaluations, such as part commonization and VAVE.
- Provide support and guidance to CAD designers during new design development and improvement processes.
- Set standards and provide direction for creating of 2D drawings.
- Oversee the CAD/CAE/drawing release process in PLM systems (e.g. Enovia) for both manufacturing and customer release.
- Track test requests, provide test requirements to external partners (e.g. laboratories) and internal test teams, and evaluate their reports to meet DVP requirements.
- Interface with suppliers by creating, organizing, and validating the Supplier Compliance Matrix. Review their DVP results and determine changes to improve the design, functionality, and performance of HVAC sub-components.
- Collaborate with other engineering departments and global cross-functional teams.
Other responsibilities:
- Ensure quality standards are met by working with the Quality department on HVAC DFMEA creation and maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with the company’s QMS guidelines by seeking improvement opportunities (e.g. TQM, QC, 5S) to help achieve company goals.
- Support the manufacturing team as a technical interface for DFA, process layout, and PFMEA creation.
- Maintain customer relationships by creating technical presentations
- Coordinate design information with prototype suppliers to ensure prototype parts meet Sanden standards.
- Cooperate with the Supply Chain department and other global cross-functional teams.
Manage product data by properly saving, organizing, and releasing it internally and in PLM.
Qualifications
Required experience and education:
- At least 3 years of relevant experience, ideally in HVAC product design and development
- Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification
Your Must Haves:
- Strong command of spoken and written Mandarin and English, allowing for clear articulation of ideas and complex information
- Professional design experience with CATIA V5 or equivalent CAD software (e. g. Siemens NX)
- Good understanding of thermodynamics & knowledge in HVAC systems
- Basic understanding and interpretation of CFD analysis
- Familiarity with automotive development standards such as APQP, DVP&R, DFMEA and PFMEA, as well as GD&T standards
- Creative problem-solving skills to identify root causes and develop effective strategies to address them
- Ability to build and nurture beneficial relationships
- Self-awareness of performance and behavior
- Ability to adapt quickly to a fast-changing environment
Your Nice-to-Haves:
- Understanding of NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) analysis techniques to address noise and vibration issues in mechanical designs
- Project management skills to meet customer and internal project milestones
Certification in relevant CAD/CAM software or FEA tools
