The Faculty of Natural Sciences II represents the fields of chemistry, physics and mathematics in research and teaching. The Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg is looking to appoint an outstanding individual to a

Tenured Professorship in
„Mesoscopic Quantum Dynamics” (W2 salary)

within the Faculty of Natural Sciences II, Institute of Physics. The position will commence preferably by April 1st, .

We are looking for a person with an outstanding track-record in teaching and research. The research area should include mesoscopic quantum dynamics with a focus on photonics and quantum optics and should complement existing research topics in a meaningful way. Research areas may focus for example on materials for use in optoelectronics and quantum electronics with applications in spin systems and energy conversion.
Active involvement in existing and future research networks such as the Collaborative Research Centre TRR "Ultrafast Spin Dynamics" is expected. The collaboration with other groups within the faculty and with the external Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics and the Fraunhofer Institute for Micro­structure of Materials and Systems IMWS in Halle is strongly encouraged.

Furthermore the teaching of several courses in theoretical physics as part of the bachelor, master and teacher training degree programs as well as the participation in the self-administration are expected. The courses on bachelor and teacher training level are to be held in German.

Further duties and responsibilities are stipulated in section 34 of the Saxony-Anhalt State Law of Universities.

Applicants need to fulfill the pre-conditions of appointment as stipulated in section 35 of the Saxony-Anhalt State Law of Universities. Particular emphasis is placed on a Habilitation in the relevant field, or an equivalent level of scientific achievement and recognition. Candidates are expected to have attained the appropriate level of experience or qualification in teaching.
