Job Title: Test Engineer – Propulsion
Location: Munich, Germany: On-site work required (Home office option possible for 1 day per week during test-free periods)
Duration: 18 Months (Potential for Conversion)
Must have full rights to work in Germany
Your Role and Team:
Join our Laboratory Testing department, which plays a crucial role in conducting component, system, and aircraft-level ground tests. Our team supports research, development, and certification in propulsion, batteries, structures, and environmental testing. As a Test Engineer in the Propulsion Testing team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end execution of test campaigns on the propulsion system, from the initial request to data delivery. You will collaborate closely with the design team to ensure effective testing processes that enhance our product’s performance.
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Review and refine test requests in collaboration with the design team.
- Develop test concepts and detailed designs for test and measurement setups.
- Coordinate technicians, suppliers, and support teams to ensure smooth test preparation.
- Plan test execution, including drafting procedures and conducting risk assessments.
- Hands-on execution of the tests with a focus on safety and accuracy.
- Analyze data, process results, and report findings.
- Create and review engineering documentation related to test setups and results.
- Provide feedback to the design team for ongoing product improvements.
- Support resource and workload planning in coordination with other teams.
- Act as a role model for safety standards in the laboratory.
- Continuously learn and share knowledge with the team about testing methodologies and equipment.
Your Profile:
- University degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields (M.Sc/M.Eng preferred).
- Solid experience in propulsion testing, measurement methods, and instrumentation.
- Proficiency in data analysis and post-processing.
- Experience with aerospace testing processes and best practices is an advantage.
- Familiarity with testing multi-kW electrical machines is beneficial.
- Knowledge of CAD systems (Siemens NX preferred) is an asset.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to challenge assumptions.
- Ability to work with incomplete requirements and anticipate customer needs.
- High level of self-reliance and ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
- Target-oriented work style in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Fluent English (C1 level) is essential; knowledge of German or other languages is a plus.
