The job

The Department of Solar Materials Biotechnology (SOMA) offers position for a scientist (f/m/x) in Biochemical Analytics & Microfluidics for photobiotechnology. The successful candidate will be working in our interdisciplinary team developing analytics and concepts for a basic understanding of electron transfer from natural photosynthesis onto electron-mediators with a focus on a quantitative understanding of reaction rates and redox potential control. Microfluidic solutions will be applied for the determination of biochemical, physiological, or microbiological data with relevance for biotechnology.

This position is subject to the approval of the third party funder.

Your tasks

Analytical biochemistry project work for BISON, an EFRE project in our biotechnological and microfluidics laboratories Application and development of analytical microstructured reaction systems for photobiotechnology Supervision (technician, students) Providing high quality scientific outputs in the form of journal publications Assisting technology transfer Collaboration with other scientists in our center and external partners

Your profile

Master's degree and PhD in microbiology, biochemistry, or biotechnology with a spezialization on redox enzymes Experience in biochemical analytics of redox enzyme complexes Experience in microbiology, biochemistry, autotrophic- or photobiotechnology Interest in bioprocess analysis and development Excellent English (written & spoken) Presentation skills Team player skill Ability to work independently Solid experience in scientific writing and reporting Skills in biochemical data analysis Preference will be given to candidates with experience in handling autotrophic microorganisms
