The FVB is an institution of seven natural sciences research institutes in Berlin funded by the Federal Republic of Germany and the association of its federal states. The research institutes are members of the Leibniz association.

The Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) in Berlin is a non-university research institute that conducts basic research in molecular pharmacology and provides a vibrant and collaborative environment with state-of-the-art facilities for research and employees from all over the world.

The Milles Lab (Section Structural Biology) and the Broichhagen Lab (Section Chemical Biology: www.broichhagenlab.com) are looking for a joint post-doctoral fellow in organic synthesis and (single molecule) fluorescence spectroscopy (recent publications: Roßmann et al., bioRxiv 2020; Birke et al., Org. Biomol. Chem. 2022, Naudi-Fabra et al., JACS 2021). The position is funded by an Integrated FMP Project and focusses on the chemical synthesis of novel fluorophores and their applications in single molecule Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET), and state-of-the-art fluorescence microscopy to study intrinsically disordered proteins and important cell surface receptors in health and disease. The positions are to be filled as soon as possible and initially limited to 2 years with the potential for extension.

We seek highly motivated, ambitious, and talented young scientists to join an enthusiastic and collaborative team in an outstanding scientific environment. Successful postdoc applicants will hold a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, ideally in combination with microscopic imaging and have a strong track record of accomplishment. All applicants are expected to benefit from excellent written and oral communication skills and display a high personal motivation to excel in science. The working language is English.
