Horizon Controls Group are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Automation Engineer to join our team for a pharmaceutical client in Europe. The primary focus of this role will be on Rockwell Automation systems and fill-finish operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge in automation systems, particularly within the pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, and a strong background in Rockwell Automation and fill-finish processes.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Design and Implementation:
    • Design, develop, and implement automation solutions using Rockwell Automation systems.
    • Configure and program Rockwell PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.
    • Ensure systems are designed and implemented according to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) regulations and standards.
  • Fill-Finish Operations:
    • Apply expertise in fill-finish processes within pharmaceutical manufacturing.
    • Oversee the automation of fill-finish lines to ensure efficient, accurate, and compliant operations.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate fill-finish equipment with automation systems.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
    • Perform regular maintenance and updates to automation systems to ensure optimal performance.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with automation systems and fill-finish equipment.
    • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Validation and Compliance:
    • Conduct validation activities for automation systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Prepare and maintain documentation for validation processes, including protocols, reports, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Project Management:
    • Manage automation projects from conception through completion, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
    • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to achieve project goals.
    • Monitor project progress and report status to stakeholders.
  • Training and Support:
    • Provide training and support to operators and technical staff on automation systems.
    • Develop training materials and conduct sessions to ensure proficiency in system operations.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in automation engineering within the pharmaceutical industry.
    • Proven experience with Rockwell Automation systems (Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, SCADA).
    • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with fill-finish processes.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Strong understanding of GMP and regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry.
    • Proficient in automation software and tools relevant to Rockwell systems.
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Certifications:
    • Relevant certifications in Rockwell Automation and/or pharmaceutical manufacturing are a plus.
