Primary Function of Position:

We are looking for tech-savvy engineers who have a sense of working in a machine shop and who show an open and pragmatic approach. The tasks of the Machine Shop Engineer include the assembly and optimization of workstations, the physical execution of layout moves and relocations and the construction of fixtures. The same applies to the planning and commissioning of the equipment of a machine shop including the machinery.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Support the Mission, Vision and Shared Values of Intuitive Surgical.
• Collaboration in the design of equipment and fixtures through the construction of prototypes and samples.
• Execution of improvement and relocation activities.
• Planning and ordering of required materials and tools
• Planning a machine shop for improvements in production and R&D activities, identification of the requirements as well as specifications and commissioning of the technical equipment
• Close cooperation with other departments: Industrial Engineering, IT, Facility Management, Process Engineering

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

• Technical degree with a “Meister” or similar education
• at least 2+ year work experience and experience in the medical device industry is desirable
• experience in technical responsibility or the establishment of a machine shop with machinery desirable
• Cross-technology application experience (turning, milling, assembly, etc.)
• intermediate knowledge in MS Office applications, SAP and CAD knowledge desirable
• high level of motivation and a proactive work attitude to take the initiative and work efficiently with others in the team
• good analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
• ability to work independently and handle multiple projects
• good intercultural communication skills to build up internal/external relationships
• professional written and verbal communication skills in German an English
