Project description
As part of Mercedes-Benz's digitalization strategy, a focus is to be placed on the modelling and simulation of production/assembly lines in the battery environment. One tool for this simulation is "virtual commissioning".
Virtual commissioning describes a process in which a real production plant is set up and kinematized with the 3D data. The original sequence programs (robots, PLC) are then qualified and tested on this "digital twin".
Numerous software solutions are available on the market for virtual commissioning, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. For this reason, it was decided to use the open development platform Unity for 3D visualization in the VIBN. Unity is a runtime and development environment that enables the development of interactive 3D graphics applications.
As part of the project, an application is to be developed with Unity that can be used to import CAD data from systems. This CAD data is to be output as a result in an application that can run on all Windows laptops. The application will be supplemented with the option of using various VR glasses.
Your tasks:
Development of a mixed reality extension for virtual commissioning (VIBN) in the Unity software. Development of a virtual reality (VR) concept via an overarching VR asset. Creation of a user interface (UI) for intuitive operation of the developed VR concept.
