The job

The Department of Solar Materials Biotechnology (SOMA) offers position for a scientist (f/m/x) in microfluidics for photobiotechnology. The successful candidate will be working in our interdisciplinary team developing analytical and preparative concepts for a basic understanding and for technical applications of natural photosynthesis with a focus on the synthesis of hydrogen from water. Microfluidic solutions might also be applied for the determination of biochemical, physiological, or microbiological data with relevance for biotechnology.

Your tasks

Leadership and management of our well equipped microfluidics laboratory Design and development of microstructured reaction systems for photobiotechnology Development of gas-liquid separation technology using microfluidics Supervision (technician, students) Providing high quality scientific outputs in the form of journal publications Assisting technology transfer Collaboration with other scientists in our center and external partners

Your profile

Master's degree and PhD in chemistry, bioengineering, biotechnology, material sciences with a spezialization on microfuidics Experience in lab-on-a-chip solutions in biotechnology Experience in microbiology, biochemistry, photobiotechnology Interest in bioprocess analysis and development Excellent English (written & spoken) Presentation skills Team player skill Ability to work independently Solid experience in scientific writing and reporting Skills in biochemical data analysis Preference will be given to candidates with experience in handling photosynthetic microorganisms
