Our CARIDIANS are developing vehicle functions such as driver assistance systems, a next-generation infotainment platform, power electronics and charging technology, and digital services in and around the vehicle.
Our software can already be found in Volkswagen ID. models and will soon power Audi and Porsche vehicles with the E3 1.2 platform in 2024.

The ML Engineering team focuses on designing and developing a robust, scalable AI software stack that supports diverse AI use cases, enhancing customer experiences across various VW Group brands. This team collaborates closely with engineering groups in SoC, hardware, middleware, and UX. The goal is to ensure our systems have the required compute capabilities, flexibility, and extensibility to support emerging hardware and sensor technologies, delivering a user experience that adapts to evolving mobility needs.
- Design, develop, and deploy ML models and algorithms for automotive applications using frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and ONNX.
- Lead the implementation of Generative AI solutions to enhance driver and passenger experiences.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ML models into the software-defined vehicle platform using languages like Python, Kotlin, and Java.
- Prototype and experiment with ML frameworks, including TensorFlow Lite and TensorRT, to bring innovative solutions to market.
- Optimize ML models for performance, scalability, and on-device deployment, leveraging technologies like Core ML.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, including GDPR
- PhD or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on ML and AI and practical experience in the automative industry or related field
- Proven experience in deploying ML models in production environments, with a strong understanding of cloud-based technologies such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Azure.
- Strong understanding of Generative AI, NLP, and Computer Vision (using OpenCV, YOLO, Faster R-CNN) techniques.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with Android development (Kotlin/Java) with good knowledge of Agentic Frameworks (AutoGen, Langchain, Langsmith) and Retrieval Augmented Generation.
- Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD practices, including Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and Git.
- Hands-on experience with multimodal large language models and quantization techniques including data handling and visualization using Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, and Seaborn.
