Project Engineer Scanning LiDAR Measurement

The Section Wind & Turbine Testing (WTT) is part of the Department “Measurements Northern Europe” and is located in Hamburg and Kaiser-Wilhelm-Koog, Germany.
The Section measures and analyses structural loads on wind turbines, evaluates characteristic power curves, and performs meteorological measurements. The open position is in the Lidar Team of the WTT Section which focuses on providing diverse services involving wind lidars including device verification, classification as well as wind resource and power performance assessments. The WTT Section currently consists of 20 employees.
Responsibilities:
Technical Project Delivery of scanning, ground-based, nacelle-mounted and floating lidar measurement projects Responsible lead and project manager for larger and challenging projects Preparation, execution, and administration Lead and supervision of project team Planning and supervision/execution of installation and commissioning of lidar equipment Data acquisition, plausibility check, post-processing, and evaluation Programming and quality control of tools required for challenging new project involving lidar technology Reporting and checking reports Development of state-of-the-art content to present on conferences and/or online posting Act as an active member in committee work and represent DNV Occasional on-site visits including work in both On- & Offshore areasBenefits for Full-time permanent employees include generally include:

Essential skills and experience for this role are as follows:
A technical higher education degree (minimum Bachelor) Deep knowledge of the wind lidar technology and its application (experience with scanning lidars is a plus) Deep understanding of all relevant standards and recommended practices involving lidars Programming of algorithm and data analysis (we work with MATLAB, Python and FAMOS) Ability and willingness to develop technical and commercial competence in the renewable energy market Excellent organisational and time management skills Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral Working knowledge of German, both written and oral Willingness to travel (domestic and international) Driver's licenseSuitably qualified and/or willing to take part in health and safety trainings to undertake working at heights, work on construction sites, first aid, and work involving electrical hazards (and any other required trainings . confined spaces training as applicable)
