(Senior) Software and Data Engineer

Your future role
You will work closely with our partners at the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York and our development team in Singapore. You will design and implement a framework for secure annotation of radiology images by writing maintainable and well-tested code following best practices. You will help to design machine learning pipelines that support our partners in efficiently and securely training and testing machine learning models on structured and unstructured data. You will be responsible for the transformation steps of ETL pipelines for data integration from different sources into our common data model. You will grow your understanding of the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) Common Data Model, a globally used standard for representing observational health data. You will collaborate with our partner research institutions in summarizing scientific and technological progress in research reports and publish and present them at international conferences.
What you need to succeed
You have a university degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning or a similar field. You have at least 2 years of experience in software development (experience in Golang is a plus) and are familiar with SQL for processing structured data. You have a strong interest in deploying and running machine learning models. Experience with standard machine learning frameworks (scikit-learn, pytorch, tensorflow) is a plus. Ideally, you have some experience with frameworks for machine learning pipelines and lifecycle management. You have experience in designing and writing ETL pipelines, experience with frameworks such as Prefect, NiFi or Airflow is a plus. You have experience in writing and publishing scientific papers and presenting them on conferences, a Ph.D. is not required but a plus. You grasp complex issues quickly and are able to structure and present them. You are happy to mentor Junior Engineers and participate in design and code reviews. You are fluent in English (written and spoken).
