Responsibilities / Tasks
Works with Process Engineers and Test Center Manger to develop test equipment configuration, and test plans, and operates test equipment to determine and demonstrate the ability of GEA drying equipment to meet customer specific requirements. Develops test report for submission to customer. This position is related to hazardous waste management and may require working with and/or near hazardous waste. GEA will provide both introductory and continuing training on proper hazardous waste handling, management, and emergency response procedures relevant to the position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Works in collaboration with Test Center Manager, Process Engineers and Sales Engineers to develop equipment set up and test plan
Operates pilot plant equipment in conformance with test requirements (dryers, atomizers, special equipment, etc.) making appropriate adjustments as required by test results
Repairs test station equipment as directed
Operates miscellaneous related equipment including forklift, and hand tools
Weighs and packages test material for shipment
Conducts all job duties in a safe manner, using proper material handling techniques and safety equipment
Performs other related duties as directed by Supervisor
Reads and understands Safety Data Sheets before working with hazardous materials and determines proper safety measures working in conjunction with Test Center Manager and Health and Safety Coordinator
Collects and organizes data on operating conditions and log of operations for use in generating a final test report
Your Profile / Qualifications
BS in Chemical Engineering or BS in Engineering with chemical plant experience preferredCandidates without a bachelor’s degree but with strong related experience and with good writing and communications skills will be considered
Good verbal and written communication skills
Prior experience with chemical process equipment is desirable
Prior training in safety procedures appropriate to handling of chemicals is desirable
Prior mechanical experience is desirable
Ability to accurately follow detailed instructions
Ability to work in a team atmosphere and to deal with customers
Mental acuity enabling the individual to monitor several operations/factors simultaneously
