We are looking for a chemist or biochemist (m/f/d) for the development of Novel Biobased Polymer Additives

Aim: conduct experimental work in the area of soil-polymer-microbiome interaction

Fields: Polymer Science, Colloid chemistry, Soil Science

Project overview:

This position offers a unique opportunity to work on a sustainable technology to mitigate climate change and improve the health of soils.

The successful candidate should fit to the following broader job description:

• Performing laboratory hydrothermal synthesis in available laboratory reactors.
• Performing analysis of the reaction products using equipment and methods available in the laboratory or within the partnering laboratories.
• Formulating soil recipes to adjust topsoil characteristics.
• Collecting data and performing preliminary data analysis.
• Reading and analyzing available literature on the topic.
• Follow the chemical handling regulations, safety protocols, human and environmental protection.
• Communication and joint project planning with agricultural experts.
• Following the reporting obligations.

• Degree in chemistry or materials science in the discipline of soft matter systems.
• Background in food processing development or hydrothermal processing is preferable.
• Outstanding team players who can work in a fast-paced and highly dynamic environment.
• Good command of English is required. German knowledge is beneficial.

• Competitive salary according to the German public pay scale (TVöD). The appointment is for two years (extension possible).
