About Our Client

Our Client is a leading bespoke equipment designer and manufacturer established in 1951. The client is searching for an experienced and skilled Reliability Engineer. Operating from their Heidelberg facility, the client specialize in designing and manufacturing custom solutions for a diverse range of industries, including Rail, Construction, Engineering, and Defence sectors. The Reliability Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our clients innovative products, contributing to their commitment to delivering high-quality solutions to customers globally.

Job Description

Key responsibilities:

  1. Calculate Reliability, Availability, & Maintainability (RAM) values for various pieces of industrial equipment using a combination of industry and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Data. Calculations primarily involve the principles of EN50126 - Reliability, Maintainability, Availability Railway Applications.
  2. Develop Failure Mode, Affect and Causality Analysis (FMECA) models using fault tree principles.
  3. Provide RAM and FMECA reports outlining the principles and calculations as stated above providing accurate and conclusive availability figures.
  4. Develop RAM's compliance plans to verify how the supplied equipment meets the requirements set out in the RAM's and FMECA reports.
  5. Us the Mean Time Between Failure (MTTR) and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) models from the RAM's report to create predictive maintenance requirements based on hours of operation.
  6. Assist in the development of Technical Maintenance Plans (TMP's) for the equipment using the principles of Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) as outlined in SAE JA1011.
  7. Create Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) reports from the above TMP's. LCA to include operations, periodic minor maintenance, periodic major maintenance, minor & major overhauls, obsolescence predictions, and end of life and disposal/replacement.
  8. Using the above, contribute to the development/updating of operations and maintenance manuals.



Reliability Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive reliability strategy aligning with company objectives, ensuring products meet or surpass customer expectations.

Life Cycle Assessment: Conduct assessments to evaluate product performance over time, identifying improvement areas for sustained quality and longevity.

Failure Analysis: Lead investigations to identify root causes of product failures, driving design improvements and preventing future issues.

Reliability Modelling: Use statistical models to predict and enhance product reliability through data-driven decision-making.

Continuous Improvement: Implement methodologies like Six Sigma or Lean principles to enhance reliability, quality, and efficiency.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure products adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements for reliability, safety, and performance.

Team Leadership: Mentor teams in reliability engineering processes and methodologies.

The Successful Applicant

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or related fields.

Experience: preferred 5-8 years in reliability engineering, preferably in manufacturing or engineering environments.

Certifications: Preferred certifications in reliability engineering

Software Proficiency: Experience with reliability software tools

Project Management Skills: Ability to effectively manage reliability projects within set timelines.

Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with Rail, Construction, Engineering, or Defence sectors.

Customer Focus: Translate customer needs into reliable product requirements for high satisfaction.

Additional Requirements:

Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving ability with an eye for detail in interpreting complex data.

Testing and Assessment: Proficiency in reliability testing methodologies, failure mode analysis, and risk assessment.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.
