THE ROLE:
To help us lead the future of commercial aircraft modification in Boeing EASA Modifications, we are seeking applicants for a Junior Part 21 Stress/Structures Engineer to join our rapidly expanding, world class team. We will support you to develop your skills and encourage you to reach your career goals.
The successful candidate will support the certification of large aircraft modifications for our global airline partners to demonstrate compliance with relevant regulatory and customer requirements and procedures defined in the company’s Design Organization Handbook (DOH).
This role is based in either of our BGS EASA Modifications sites in Hamburg or Munich, Germany with hybrid working options. Travel to other sites is expected with occasional international travel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Structures Engineering Manager and working with the global engineering services team, across multiple time-zones, in order to identify requirements and their associated solutions for active and upcoming projects Support certification activities to ensure compliance with design requirements Compile structural substantiation documents related to:Product certification and integration to the aircraft of:New seating installationsNew monument and furniture Installations such as Galleys, Lavatories, class dividers, first class suites and VVIP furnishing.Cabin interior changes including LOPAs, Passenger Service Unit layouts, LRU installations, etc.Primary structure changes includingAntenna InstallationsFuselage Modification Support other Boeing representatives during customer meetings such as ITCM, PDR, CDR and FAI in support of active and up-coming projects. Provide additional on-site support to assist the customers during the embodiment phase of the project.This role will require occasional national and/or international travel to visit teammates, customers and subcontractors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree within Stress/Structures/Mechanical or Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering (an equivalent technical qualification will be considered) 1 year relevant experienceREQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Current or recent employment within the aerospace industry specifically working with an EASA Part 21J Design Organisation (or equivalent) is desired. Capability in hand calculations, using classic stress analysis techniques. Capability in Finite Element Analysis. Able to demonstrate a basic working knowledge of EASA regulatory and airworthiness requirements including (E)TSO, CS-25, JAR-25 and FAR-25 requirements (relevant to the electrical/avionics discipline). Knowledge and experience of aircraft interior and/or fuselage modification programmes. A high level of attention to detail and professional integrity. Ability to efficiently and effectively work on multiple programmes with varying level of requirements. Ability to prioritise workloads and show flexibility to changing situations / demands. Ability to work effectively with colleagues and customers to embody the core values of the business: Honesty, Integrity and Transparency. Willing and able to help develop, mentor and coach less experienced staff. Experience navigating OEM data systems for specifications and standards.ABOUT YOU:
