Purpose: Inspects, cleans, repairs and modifies line replaceable units and other components utilized on combat vehicles. Identifies isolates, troubleshoots, and repairs malfunctions using appropriate procedures and applicable technical manuals, TMDE, and tools. Maintain and/or repair laser range finders, ballistic computers, laser observation devices, laser designators, thermal imaging systems, periscopes, telescopes. Maintain and/or repair commander’s weapon station/auxiliary sights, aiming circles, image transfer assemblies, quadrants, mount assemblies, fire control support equipment. Maintain and/or repair test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment. Perform battlefield damage assessment and repair.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily.
Troubleshoots and isolates system malfunctions utilizing technical manuals, schematic diagrams, special and standard electronic and mechanical TMDE.
Performs corrective maintenance on previously diagnosed malfunctions on fire control systems used in combat vehicles, off-carriage lasers, designators, thermal sights, and night vision devices.
Designs, fabricates and adapts tools and fixtures to facilitate further fire control instrument repairs or as new types of fire control equipment is adopted by the Army.
May instruct other employees in the proper repair maintenance procedures and capabilities of fire control LRU instruments and TMDE.
Performs other duties and assignments as required.
Maintain a daily timesheet and daily manning report and ensuring times are accurate.
Qualification & Experience Requirements: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
High School graduate or equivalent.
Army MOS 94A Land Combat Electronic System Repairer (LCES) is preferred or a minimum of two years’ experience.
Must be able to meet and maintain all base access security requirements.
Must be able to meet and maintain all Logistics Information System (LIS) access requirements (Common Access Card).
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
Must have or be able to obtain a US Passport
Specialized knowledge and skills:
Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
Must have the ability to analyze and interpret Army Technical Manuals with relation to track maintenance and repair.
Additional Requirements:
1) LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid driver’s license is required
2) PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Stooping, sitting, kneeling, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds by themselves-51+ with the assistance of another person, touching dexterity (hand and finger), carrying, clear seeing-general, close vision, color perception, clear speech, driving vehicle, moving objects.
Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively up to a 48-hour work week.
Must be able to endure long hours (overtime as required)
3) WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and outside weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to situations where risk of electrical shock and vibration exist. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
May be required to deploy on missions on short notice at the direction of the PMO.
